John and Mary were married at St.Francis Roman Catholic Church, Elizabeth & Lonsdale Sts Melbourne. The names of the witnesses to this marriage are unreadable. They seem to have been struck through. The second witness's surname is Cusack, but no other details can be deciphered.
John Collihole, 1 was the son of Thomas and Elizabeth (nee Collihole) He travelled to Australia unassisted on board the "Prince Consort" which left Liverpool on 9 March, 1861 and arrived in Melbourne in July, 1861. Among the items he brought with him was a Bible given to him by his parents and a note book with names and addresses of contacts in Australia and New Zealand.
Post office directory 1875 shows John Collihole of Newstead occupation farmer.
According to the inquest papers, John was working and collapsed. Mary ran to him but he died about 10 minutes later.
John married Mary CUSACK [1012] [MRIN: 297], daughter of James CUSACK [1030] and Margaret GALLERY [1031], on 3 Sep 1863 in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia 1863.,1864 (Mary CUSACK [1012] was born in 1834 in Ennis, Co.Clare, Ireland, died on 10 May 1913 in Strangways, Vic, Australia 1865,1866 and was buried on 12 May 1913 in Sandon, Vic, Australia.)
