DEATH OF MR. C. CAMERON
FORSTER.
Many Victorians and others resident in this State and elsewhere will have learned with feelings of sorrow of the somewhat sudden death on November 20 of Mr. C. Cameron Forster, who was on a visit to Perth. Mr. Forster was an old resident of Victoria, having arrived there in 1852. He was among the pioneers on the Ararat and Stawell goldfields, in the progress of which he took an active and practical interest. He was one of a dozen members of vigilance committee elected by the alluvial miners at Ararat for the enforcement of law and order during a period when lawlessness was rampant.

Of recent years he was the only, surviving member of that committee. For many years he was in business at Stawell and subsequently opened a large business in Sydney-road, Brunswick. The latter business,he continued till his death. Of late the deceased gentleman had been suffering from ill-health,, and he paid a visit to Perth to recuperate. On November 18 he became suddenly ill, and he expired at the residence of his son. Mr. G. C. D. Forster, dentist, St. George's-terrace. The deceased gentleman who was 70 years of age, was a son of Mr Charles Vaughan Forster, a naval officer, and later Comptroller of Customs in Canada. He was buried in the Presbyterian portion of the Karrakatta Cemetery on Nov. 21, the Rev. John Gray M.A., B.D., conducting the service. The remains were enclosed in a massive gr?? mounted coffin.

The pall-bearers, all of whom were old Victorian friends, of the deceased were:-Messrs. F. Oliver, D. Lillingstone, H. Rowley, W. G. Wilson, G. Rae, and H. J. Hemmons. Wreaths were sent by the following : Mr. and Mrs. G. Rae, Mr. R. Wigglesworth, Mr. Snook, Dr. and Mrs. Wilkinson, Committee of the Freemasons Club and Freemasons Bowling Club, Mrs. Copeland, Miss Kofoed, Mr. Hemmons, Perth bowling Club (per Mr. H. Jones) Mr. and Mrs. Jas. Coultas, Mr. and Mrs. F. Palmer and family, Mr. D. R. Davies, Mr. S. D. Eden, Mr. and Mrs. W. Freeman, and Mr. and Mrs. F. Oliver. The funeral arrangements were conducted by Mr, Chas. Coulson, James-street.
