Job GODBER [1343]
General Notes: Job was the third of eight children. He apparently worked his passage to Australia as a Ships' carpenter arriving in Melbourne during Jan of 1841. His wife and second family did not follow until 10 years later in 1851. Meanwhile his daughter Martha, died in Sutton in Ashfield at the age of 9 in 1844. The children from his first marriage married and settled in England. After arriving in Melbourne Job worked as a carpenter and at one stage worked on the building of St. James Old Cathedral. In the 1869 Directory he is listed as a joiner at 206 Lonsdale St Melbourne. His photograph is included in the Chuck Collection.
