Peterborough Standard Page 8 Friday August 4, 1944 Death of Mrs Rowe - The death of Mrs Emily Rowe, aged 88, 43 Bamber St., widow of Mr James Rowe, occured in Nottingham on July 25th. She had been on a holiday with her daughter, Mrs S. Wharton. Mr and Mrs Rowe used to keep the Gladstone Arms years ago, and Mr Rowe died in 1918. Mrs Rowe had lived with Mrs C. Avery (who was chief cashier at the Broadway Kinema for 21 years), for the last 11 years. She was a daughter of the late Mr and Mrs. Frederick Barrett Elmer, of Gromwell Rd., and was, with the exception of Mrs Kate Elmer, the last surviving member of that generation.
The funeral was at Broadway cemetery, in the family grave, after a service at St. Mark's. The mourners were Mr and Mrs Avery, Mr and Mrs Wharton, Mr and Mrs C Crisp (sons-in-law and daughters), Mrs Elmer, Miss Elmer (sister-in-law and niece) Mrs Trail, Hitchen, Mrs Hynd London and Mres E Brakes (nieces), Mrs Warner, Mrs Hibbitt, Miss E Sprigg and Miss F Sprigg (friends). Others at the church were Mrs R Sharpe, Mrs G Chappel, Mrs Victor Elmer, Mrs Howards, Mrs J Farmery, Mrs Tatham, Mrs Beckingham, and Mrs Reynolds, representing St Martins St. First Aid Post. Among those who sent wreaths were her friends and neighbours from 173-177 Westwood st., and 45 Bamber St.
