The elder, William Pettman, got right under the cart, holding the axle. Being ordered by the driver to shift, the boy ran to the front of the vehicle, and endeavoured to climb on to the load, but lost his balance and fell. The wheel passed over his chest, and slightly grazed his face. The driver carried the boy into the nearest house. He was afterwards examined by Mr. Owen, M.B., who ordered his immediate removal to the Melbourne Hospital.
