From an undated (probably 1925) and unknown newspaper, a clipping of which I have a photocopy the following:
A sad death occurred in the West Gippsland Hospital on Sunday last, when Mrs Maude Hilda Hill (relict of the late Mr Abner Hill who died about 3 months ago) passed away, at the early age of 37 years. The deceased (who was a daughter of Mr A. Dawes, Garfield) had lived in the district practically the whole of her life, being highly esteemed by all who knew her. Sincere sympathy has been expressed for the bereaved relatives and family of four children (Maude, Edward, Hilda and Adelaide), who have lost a loving and devoted parent. The funeral took place to the Bunyip cemetery on Tuesday last. The burial service was conducted by the Rev. E. H. Eldridge, and Mr A Fennis carried out the funeral arrangements.
