General Notes:
Like many of the Dawes men, Arthur was a tall straight man all his life. He lived in New South Wales as long as I can remember. I remember visiting him at his little home at Curlwaa several times. The first time I can recall was around 1961.
After Flo died, Arthur lived alone for some time. In around 1979, Arthur's son Cliff and his family were living with Arthur whilst they were between homes. They had purchased a block of land close to Wentworth and would later build a home there.
Arthur always had birds, including chooks and parrots, at his house and in later years there were many trophies scattered on top of those cages deteriorating in the sun. He had many many ribbons inside the house, prizes from poultry shows. Arthur was a keen poultry fancier until his later years when he was unable to care for his beloved fowls. He passed his fowls onto his son, but he did not have such an interest in the birds as Arthur had done.
