General Notes:
Known as Geoff. Geoff and Nancye lived in a bungalow at 50 Garfield Road Garfield, then moved to 46 Garfield Road Garfield. They purchased 46 Garfield Road Garfield on 14 March 1962. In 1973 Geoff moved to 13 Caledonian Crescent, Wonthaggi where he rented the property, and in 1974 the entire family moved to 4 Hunter Street, Wonthaggi. The property had been owned by the Baptist Church since 1931 and was purchased by Geoff and Nancye on 20 September 1973.
Geoff worked as an electrical and automotive armature rewinder for Trussler and Timms at Warragul after school and on Saturday's. He left school at the end of 1946 and continued to work at Trussler and Timms until 1950. He worked for a short time at the Bassed quarry at Garfield and then gained an apprenticeship with Swiggs and Bishop, Electricians of Garfield in October 1950. Did National Service training in 1952 at Puckapunyal. The partnership of Swiggs and Bishop dissolved and was run by William Swiggs after late 1953. Geoff left Swiggs' in June 1956 due to ill health. He worked with his brother in law S Jim Madden splitting and selling posts whilst Jim was employed by the Forestry Commission at Labertouche. Geoff and Cliff (brother) worked for Ray Bishop until Ray obtained a position as an SEC Electrical Inspection possibly in the mid 1960's. Geoff and his Cliff formed a partnership as electricians and worked in the Garfield area for many years, until the early 70's when the business was not doing well and Geoff worked at night at Nestle's at Pakenham and by day in the business. In 1973 Geoff obtained a position as an electrician at the Wonthaggi & District Hospital. He began work at the Hospital in April 1973 and travelled approximately 1 hour and 10 minutes home each weekend and on special occasions until a house large enough to accommodate the entire family was found and purchased at 4 Hunter St Wonthaggi. The remainder of the family moved to Wonthaggi over the Christmas New Year period of 1973 - 74. Geoff injured his back whilst working at the hospital and subsequently retired from work due to ill health in the late 1980's.
He keeps himself occupied by fixing anything and everything for himself, family and friends. He is referred to as Granddad by his grandchildren.
