bullet  General Notes:

Thomas and Sarah arrived at Port Adelaide on board the 'Blanche Moor' from Bristol in 1855, along with their children, Elizabeth, Jane and Priscilla. They settled in Maryborough. While in England, Thomas was headmaster in Oldham Common near Bristol. While in Maryborough he was a local preacher in the Maryborough circuit for a long period.

I have found who I presume to be Thomas and Sarah in the 1841 census of England. They were living in Bristol, Gloucestershire at the time and Thomas's occupation was given as shoe maker. There are 4 children mentioned in that census, Elizabeth, aged 7, Jane aged 4, and Anne and Mary, 3 month old twins. Also living at the same address were two other Anne Newman's, one aged 60, and one aged 30. I presume these two Anne's are probably Thomas's mother and sister.
