bullet  General Notes:

I have been unable to find the birth registration of Samuel in Victoria, though he states on his marriage certificate that he was born in Victoria.

Samuel and Lucy were married at the United Presbyterian Church in Melbourne. Samuel gave his age as 21 and his parents as Thomas Slater and Sarah Shannon, both decd. His father's occupation is given as Engineer and his own birth place given as Heidelberg, Victoria. Lucy's age is given as 18 and her parents and Henry William Pullen and Emma Eliza Rose, both dec'd, her father's occupation given as Modeller and her place of birth given as London. Witnesses to the wedding were WIlliam Purcell, Deborah Lazarus and Charlotte Murray. Samuels address is given as Victoria Parade, Collingwood and his occupation is given as farm labourer. Lucy gives her occupation as domestic servant and her address as Gore Street, Collingwood. Although Samuel gives his age as 21 and Lucy as 18, it would appear that Samuel was probably around 18 years of age and Lucy was only 16. and they state that both parents are deceased, however it would appear this is also incorrect.
