A WOMAN'S DEATH.
SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES.
DENILIQUIN, Saturday. - The circumstances surrounding the death of a married woman named Christina Cadman, who died at Conargo, a town ship about twenty miles from Deniliquin, were investigated yesterday afternoon before the coroner, Mr. M. C. O'Neill and a jury of five. Dr. Moyes deposed to having made a post mortem examination of the body. Deceased was between 30 and 40 years of age. There were no external marks of violence, with the exception of a small bruise on the left forehead. There was a quantity of extravasated blood between the skull cap and the cranium, which caused some pressure on the brain substance, and was the cause of death. The effused blood was due to rupture of a vessel in the brain, and was caused, he believed, by direct violence, either a blow on the bead or a violent fall against some solid substance. Alexandrina Callaghan and her husband, Denis Callaghan, stated that as they were returning home from the Conargo races, and were passing Cadman's house, they saw Mrs. Cadman lying partly in and partly outside an out house. She was alive, but insensible. When Callaghan lifted the woman up he noticed that one arm was doubled underneath her side. Witness knew that the woman was addicted to drink. Eliza Robertson stated that she saw Mrs. Cadman at Rogers's hotel, at Conargo, on the morning of the races. She saw her have some beer. Mr. Cadman went into the bar during the afternoon and said he could not find his wife. W. J. McKies deposed that he had seen Europeans and Indians frequent ing deceased's house when her husband was away at work. He told Cadman about it. At this stage the inquest adjourned until Monday.
