Mr Aaron Stephens, of Leneva, sustained a severe bereavement on Sunday in the death of his wife, at the early age of 38 years. Mr and Mrs in Stephens came to Leneva from the to Omeo district less than a year ago.

Since her confinement, three months ago, Mrs Stephens' health has been far from satisfactory, and an attack of pneumonia proved too much for her, notwithstanding medical attention and nursing. The deceased leaves six young children, the eldest being 11 years and the youngest only three months. The sympathy for Mr Stephens and his little children in their bereavement is general and genuine. The funeral took place on Tuesday afternoon, and was numerously attended. The service of the Wesleyan Church was read at the grave by the Rev. F. Lade, of Chiltern who also delivered a feeling address appropriate to the sorrowful occasion. This was followed, at the request of the relatives of the deceased, by the reading of the Liturgy of the Church of England by Rev. H. Hitchcock, who had become, acquainted with Mr and Mrs Stephens and family in the Omeo district

Mr Aaron Stephens, who for many years resided at Mount Leinster, had three sons at the front, all of whom were born in the district, two of them being killed and one wounded. Truly he has offered up big sons for his country,
