-.Prohibition Order. -

Florence Flanagan applied for a prohibition order to be issued against Robert Flanagan. The defendant did not appear the case was taken ex parte. After taking evidence from the applicant, the magistrate granted a prohibition order for 13 months.

MAN TAKEN TO HOSPITAL
SUFFERING FROM POISONING

Robert George Flanagan, residing at 511 McGowan Street, was admitted to the Hospital shortly after noon yesterday suffering from the effects of poison which he is said to have taken from a bottle. At about 11.40 o'clock yesterday morning Sergeant Carlon, of the North police, was advised by Mrs. Flanagan of the matters, and on calling at the residence he found Mr. Flanagan in the back yard in an unconscious condition. The ambulance was obtained and the man was taken in to the Hospital. He regained consciousness later, but was reported this afternoon to be still in a serious condition.

ATTEMPTED SUICIDE
DEPENDANT PLEADS GUILTY

In the police Court this morning, before Mr. H. C. Atkinson, SM, Robert George Flanagan (40), on remand, was charged with having attempted to commit suicide on March 6.

Sergeant P. L, Carlon deposed that about noon on March 6 he went to the defendant's house in McGowan Street. He saw defendant lying on his back in the back yard. He was unconscious. Close by he saw a bottle labelled ''Poison." He had the defendant conveyed to the Hospital in the ambulance. Witness was present when the defendant was attended to at the Hospital. He saw the defendant on the following Thursday, when he asked, "Have you taken any poison?'? The defendant said, "Yes, I think so. I had been drinking heavily and did not know what I was going [sic]." The defendant had been four days in the Hospital and seven in gaol.

This closed the evidence.
The defendant elected to be dealt with summarily and pleaded guilty.
Sergeant Noble said there was some convictions against the defendant for drunkenness.
The Magistrate: If I deal leniently with you will you promise me not to attempt to take your life again?"
The "Défendant : Yes.
The Magistrate : You are sentenced to imprisonment until the rising of the court.

Robert died from effects of an explosion which was wilfully caused by himself - verdict of Coroner.
