The Guildford correspondent of the M A, Mail, 27th June, writes that news has reached the district of the death of an old inhabitant of Castlemaine. Mr. Richard Pitcher came to Castlemaine from Adelaide in the first days of the gold discovery; and having a good idea where gold would be found, caused several gold rushes, although he was not himself fortunate. He resided many years in Taylor's paddook, Strathloddon, and finally moved to the vicinity of Beaufort, to reside with some mombers of his family. He died at the ripe old age of seventy-five. Pitcher's Flat was named after him.
Richard married Charlotte OLIVER [6274] [MRIN: 1993] on 25 Feb 1825 in Stoke Abbott, Dorset, England 5568.,5569
