MR. J. LAWSON TO MISS E. M. FRANKLIN.
The marriage of Miss Effie Maude Franklin, eldest daughter of Mrs. Franklin, of Warracknabeal (and the late James Franklin), to Mr. James Lawson, younger son of Mr. James Lawson. of "Woodleigh." Wakefield, Yorks, England, was celebrated on Wednesday, 6th March, at St. Peter's Church, Eastern Hill, by the Rev. Canon Hughes, and afterwards at the Savoy. Owing to a recent bereavement in the bride's family, the ceremony was a very quiet one. Afterwards the happy pair left for a motor tour through Tasmania.

Mrs. Lawson, of Rupanyup, niece of Mr. and Mrs. Franklin, of Hopetoun, received a cable message from her husband last week, forwarded from Palestine informing her that he had been promoted to the rank of major. The cable also mentioned that Lieut. Phillips and Private Dunlop were in good health. Mrs Lawson has been the recipient of hearty congratulations on her husband's promotion,
