Maintenance
A case preferred by Rose North against her husband James North for the maintenance of his three children was next heard en parte. The wife stated that her husband had deserted her three months ago. She had wife 3s 6d from him on the 28th July, and had had nothing since. He was now on the West Coat. She had received a letter from him stating that he was in work. The Bench found the defendant guilty of desertion and ordered him to pay £1 a week, and 7s 6d costs, in default of payment of the costs to be imprisoned for seven days.
