THREE-YEAR-OLD MESSENGER.
Run Over by Lorry.
When Mr. D. Berriman (Coroner) inquired into the death of Ronald Frederick May, 3 1/2 years, at the City Morgue yesterday, he was informed by the child's grand-mother that she had sent the boy, with his sister, a year older, on a message. The boy was run over by a lorry drawn by two horses.
Harriet Alice Norris, of 391 Swan-street, Richmond, said that deceased, her grandson, had been in her charge since January.
On 9th April she sent him and his sister on a message, and they had to cross Burnley-street. The girl returned and said, "Ronnie, killed."
Janet Matilda Barford, of 523 Swan-street, Burnley, said she saw the little boy almost under two horses' legs. He was struck by the near side horse and was run over by the two side wheels of the lorry. The driver did everything possible to pull up Ernest Wood, driver, Lennox-street, said that the boy narrowly missed a motor car. The lorry was going at a slow jog trot.
The Coroner found that the boy met his death through being accidentally "knocked down and run over by a lorry
