Mrs. Elizabeth Mary McClusky.
The death occurred at her home, The Rock, on Sunday, 14th ult., of Mrs. Elizabeth Mary McCluskey, at the age of 80 years, one of the oldest residents of The Rock, after a long illness. The late Mrs. McCluskey was born at Geelong in 1856, and had lived in The Rock and Mittagong districts for more than 50 years. She was the third eldest daughter of the late Michael and Grace Quirk, of Albury district.
Other members of the family were Mrs. T. Dunleavy, Mrs. M. McNamara, Mrs. W. Kelly and Mrs. W. Walsh (sisters). Her brothers, Tim, Patrick, John and Michael Quirk are all deceased. Two daughters, Mrs. J. T. O'Rourke and Miss Grace McCluskey, and one son, William, survive. Her husband, Mr. Peter McCluskey, died 38 years ago at the age of 39 years. Two sons, Michael and Peter, also predeceased her. She was a devoted member of the Catholic Church, and when ill-health compelled her to remain away from Mass she was visited regularly by Rev. Father McVeigh, P.P., of Henty, and other visiting priests at The Rock. The funeral took place on Monday, 15th ult., leaving St. Mary's Church, The Rock, for the Wagga Cemetery. Deceased was buried alongside her husband in the old Catholic cemetery. The cortege, which was representative, included many relations and friends from Wagga and The Rock. The carriers were Messrs. T. J. and P.
Quirk, and J. N. and T. Dunleavy (nephews). The pall-bearers were Messrs. P. McMullen, J. W. Jones (Wagga) and A. Kennedy, L. White, J. A. Ryan and H. C. Norman (The Rock). Others present at the graveside included Misses B. Dunleavy, K. Quirk and Mrs. Watson (The Rock), Mr. and Mrs. Michael Quirk and Miss P. Johnston (Wagga), Mr. T. Dunleavy (Urana), Mr. J. O'Rourke (son in law) Rev. Father B. W. Hayden (Wagga) officiated at the graveside. - R.I.P.
