That she had had to go without food for four days was a statement made by Mrs. Amy Lilian McKinnon on Tuesday, when she claimed maintenance from her husband, Edward McKinnon. She also said that on another occasion she had lived on dry broad for several days. In reply to Mr. D. Clarke, who appeared on her behalf, Mrs. McKinnon said she was married in Ballarat, and when on her honeymoon had to go to work to earn money. Her husband had not worked for more than four months since the marriage and she had had to work to keep him Mr. D. Lazarus, who appeared for the defence, said the husband was a wood cutter earning only £2 10/ a week. An order was made for 12/6 a week, with £2 8/ costs, and McKinnon was directed to enter into a surety of £25 to comply with the order.
