General Notes:
Catherine also seems to have been known as Catherine Spring. On her marriage certificate she calls herself Catherine Spring, and on her children's birth certificates she seems to be known as either Catherine Spring or Catherine Bates. I am not certain of the reason for this. Unfortunately the marriage certificate does not show the names of Catherine's parents.

PIONEER PASSES . The Late Mrs. C Tyrrell Gradually is the south-western portion of the State losing its pioneers, another having recently passed away in the person of Mrs. Catherine Tyrrell at the advanced age of 93 years. She was born at St. Pancras, London, in 1833, and at the age of 16 came out to South Australia. After a few years in that State she went to Victoria, where, in 1852, she was married at the old Richmond Church, Melbourne.
The late Mr. Thomas Tyrrell, her husband, predeceased her on June 6, 1904, he being 73 years old at the time of his death. Shortly after their marriage gold was discovered in the Bendigo district, to which both Mr. and Mrs. Tyrrell went, and where the deceased lady and a baby girl born to them were the first white females on that goldfield.
In. 1858 they left Bendigo and commenced farming operations at Maldon, Victoria, where they stayed until 1889, when they removed to Williamstown.
Eventually they left Victoria in 1892 for West Australia, where they settled in the Waterloo district, which was not In the advanced condition of development as it is to-day. Here Mr. and Mrs. Tyrrell remained until their deaths.
Mrs. Tyrrell was the mother of 12 children, but only five are now living. She left 35- grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. Up to the time of her death the deceased lady took a lively interest In everything pertaining to the farm, had all her faculties, and will be sadly missed by all in the district in which she had lived so long.
Catherine married Thomas TYRELL [9455] [MRIN: 3098]. (Thomas TYRELL [9455] was born about 1831 and died in 1904 in , WA, Australia 7396.)
