Francis Walter BLACKWELL [13175]
General Notes: Francis Walter Blackwell enlisted in the Australian Army in WW1 on 21 June 1916 in Melbourne. His SERN was 2380. He left Australia on the ship "Shropshire" on 25 September 1916. His height is given as 5' 6 1/4" , weight 119 lbs, brown eyes and dark brown hair. He fought in France and received a serious gunshot wound to the back in action on 17 October 1917. He was sent back to England in a serious condition but recovered from his wound and was sent back to Australia on the ship :Durham Castle on 10 March 1918. Noted events in his life were: 1. Residence, 1911, St Paul's Walden, Hertfordshire, England, United Kingdom. 9309 2. Residence, 31 Mar 1901, Kettering, Northamptonshire, England. 9309 Francis married Isabel Craig PURDIE [13176] [MRIN: 4692]. |
