The death occurred at the Heidelberg Repatriation Hospital on 14th April of Mr Frederick George Campbell of Main [May] Street Garfield.

The Late Mr. Campbell was born at Tatura 62 years ago. he worked the early part of his life at Swan Hill and after marrying moved to Melbourne, where he worked at the Flemington race course as a member of the ground staff.

At the outbreak of World War 2, he enlisted in the army and saw service in Northern Australia and Tarakan.

On discharge he became a general forman for the Housing Commission. In 1953 he and his family went farming in the Western District, until after a short time came to Vervale, after which he made his home at Garfield and worked at Garfield Sands.

Mr Campbell took a keen interest in the local sporting activities, his main interest being the Garfield Gootball Club of which he was a committee memer and time keeper for many years.

After a service at the Presbyterian Church in Bunyip a large cortege followed to the Bunyip Cemetery where relatives, friends and members of the R.S.L. paid their last respects.

Coffin bearers were Messrs. Albert Bow, Allen Newton, Norman Bill and Peter Towt.

Left to mourn his loss are his wife, one son, Don, and five daughters, Pat (Mrs. Bow, Vervale), Mirram [Miriam] (Mrs Newton Nar Nar Goon North); Fay (Mrs Gidley, Mirboo North); Valerie (Mrs Bell, Kingsbury); and Janice (Mrs Towt, Dandenong).

Funeral arrangements were carried out by Neilsen and Handley, funeral directors of Warragul.

Frederick married Beatrice Lillian VINES [4273] [MRIN: 1322]. (Beatrice Lillian VINES [4273] was born on 22 Feb 1907 in Warragul, Victoria, Australia,⁴⁴³² died on 10 Mar 2008 in , Victoria, Australia and was buried in Mar 2008 in Bunyip, Vic, Australia.)
