Raymond enlisted in WW1 in August 1914. His SERN was 430. He was injured at Gallipoli and sent to hospital on the 8th of June 1915 where his a finger on his right hand was amputated due to a gunshot wound. In July 1917 he was returned to Australia for home service due to deafness.
