General Notes: Ron served WW2 VZ4702 Staff Sergeant 2/7 Infantry Battalion. Ron served in the Middle East and was sent to Greece thereafter, embarking for Greece on the 9th of April 1941. Ron was reported as missing in action from Crete on 6 June 1941. He was later found to be a prisoner in Stalag VIII, but was moved to Stalag 344. He was returned to England on the 11th of May 1945. He left England on the 10th July 1945 to return to Melbourne. Ron died whilst on sick leave at his home in Red Cliffs at 1700 hours on the 30th of September 1945 and was buried at the Red Cliffs Cemetery on 2 October 1945. Noted events in his life were: 1. Ronald married Ivy Christine CAMERON [9813] [MRIN: 2191] in 1937 in , NSW, Australia.1680 (Ivy Christine CAMERON [9813] was born about 1917 in , NSW, Australia 1685 and died in 1988 in Mildura, Vic, Australia 1685.) |
