On the evening of Friday, August 11, he closed the shop and left 4/ worth' of coppers there in a calico bag, under the writing desk. He returned at 5.30 a.m. next morning and when he went to get the change at 6 a.m. he found that it had gone. - Witness said that he had a look around and . found that the gauze on the back window had been torn off, the opening being sufficiently large for a man to get through. The bag of coppers produced in court ? was similar to the one which was missing, which was the property of Stanley Axtill.
