There is 2 possibilities for the death of William Barkell, there is a death in June 1848 at Tavistock, Devonshire, England. However I have recently found the death of a William Barkell of the correct age, said to be from Tavistock, Devonshire, a miner who was killed in Sark, Channel Islands in 1845.

As William's wife had another baby in 1848, it is possible that the Tavistock death is the more likely of the two deaths.
