Table Talk (Melbourne, Vic. : 1885 - 1939) Thursday 1 August 1935 Page 35 Ackland-Scown THE marriage of Miss Ila Merle Scown and Mr Norman E. Ackland took place last month at St. Luke's Church of England, Hopetoun. The bride is the second daughter of Mr and Mrs Ernest D. Scown of "Owerri," Tutye, and the bridegroom the elder son of the late Mr H. E. Ackland, and of Mrs .Robert Ford, of "Hopetoun House, Hopetoun. The bride, in the unavoidable absence of her parents, was given away by her uncle. Mr Geo. Franklin. Her lovely gown of chalk white ripley was made on simple lines with a cowl neck and soft bands falling across the arms. The flared skirt fell into a fish-tail train over which fell a beautifully embroidered tulle veil lent by the bridegroom's sister, Mrs L. C. Liddell, of Horsham. The bride was attended by Mrs K. J Ackland, of Geelong, as Matron of Honor, and Miss Olwen Scown. Mrs Ackland wore an autumn tinted floral georgette gown while Miss Scown's frock was of old gold georgette. They both carried bouquets of tawny dahlias, roses and autumn leaves, while on their hair they wore coronets of gold and seed pearls. Mr Keith Ackland was best man, and Mr H. G. Hilton was groomsman. Mr J. L. Rossiter acted as usher. After the ceremony a reception was held at the Club Hotel.
