bullet  General Notes:

Arthur and Evylen were married according to the rites and ceremonies of the Established Church in Kettering. Witnesses to the marriage were George Edward Sargeant and Mary Plant.

Arthur travelled to the USA in 1906 with his brother George Robert. Bill (Arthur William) emigrated to Canada to find work as a bricklayer.. It would appear that Evylen remained in England and followed her husband at a later time as she is the head of the household in 1911. The family were living at 70 the Firs, Duke Street, Kettering at the time.

FROM THE RECOLLECTIONS OF ROBERT BERNARD BLACKWELL IN 1987 (NEPHEW)
........And Mum's crowd, there was her eldest brother Albert, Uncle Bill, Uncle Walt, Mum and Uncle Bob, in that order. Uncle Bill I can remember in 1909, he sold up, he had grown up boys and a couple of girls, though we never saw them, never ever visited them, I've never been in his house, I didn't even know where he lived because Mother never visited them. They were more or less at daggers drawn, she and this brother, and she never went there, and he only came to say goodbye. He brought his wife and his two boys [one son and one son in law at the time], well they were young men in their twenties. He went to America, he was a top class engineer in Kettering. They went to America [Canada] the last I heard Geoff, this is what I can't remember, whether it was Chicago or one of those places. He set up an engineering works, because they sent us a picture back, we got a picture back, not from him but from the family, and there's this building with a big board across there "William Darlow and Sons, Engineers", I don't know what they did. I don't know what happened to them, never heard of them from that day to this. That was the only clue we ever had and what became of that photograph I don't know, but it came out. ....................
