  General Notes:

Edward Holland and Maria Smith were married at Bow Brickhill. They were said to be Sojourners, this term is used to refer to Gypsies or Romany Travellers. At the 1861 Census, Edward appears to be living in Kineton, Warwickshire with a woman named Mary Ann Holland, 30 years younger than himself who is said to be his wife, however, he did not marry Mary Ann Smart until 1864.

Edward aged 52 Widower, married by Banns, Mary Ann Smart, aged 26, Spinster on 25 December 1864 at Irchester, by Banns. Edwards occupation is given as brickmaker, his father as Richard Holland Brickmaker. Mary Anne's father is given as James Smart Labourer. They were married by John Smith, Curate and witnesses to the wedding were John Holland and Sarah Holland. Edward, Mary Ann and Sarah all signed with their mark.

When Sue Holmes (England) was 16 years of age her grandfather Walter Herbert William Darlow told her that "there were gypsie Smiths in the family, they were fairground people."

Edward married Maria SMITH [819] [MRIN: 8], daughter of Henry SMITH [1689] and Sarah [—?—] [1985], on 1 Feb 1830 in Bow Brickhill, Buckinghamshire, England ^1542,1543.^,1544 (Maria SMITH [819] was born circa 1808 in Broughton, Oxfordshire, England and was christened on 28 Jun 1808 in Broughton, Oxfordshire, England ^1545,1546.)
