I have been unable to find the death of a Maria Nicholas. She was still living in 1911. I have found the death of a Mary Nicholas of approximately the correct age at Barnsley in 1919 which may or may not be the correct person.

Alice May Yea, known as Maisie, married Thomas Hodgkin in 1907 and appears in the electoral rolls as Alice May Hodgkin in 1909 and 1914. Ken Towt was born in 1925, son of Percy Towt and Maisie. Maisie appears on the electoral rolls from 1931 to 1949 as Alice May Towt and then from 1963 until her death she reverts to Alice May Hodgkins. It was assumed for many years, that Percy and Maisie were married, but this was not the case. Thomas Hodgkin died in 1947. Alice died in Dandenong aged 80 years in 1968. The death was registered as Alice May Hodgkin by K Towt "Friend" and it was said that she had no issue despite the fact that Ken Towt was her son.
