BOWENVALE.
THE LATE PRIVATE E. W. TANGEY.
Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Tangey have received full information in regard to their son, Private E. W. Tangey. who was killed in action in the battle of Pozieres on July 29 1916. Private C. Sanderson, a returned soldier, who is now in the Caulfield Hospital, and who was a tent mate of Private Tangey, writes that he and Tangey went into the battle of the Somme together.
Tangey, along with some mates, went to take some tea and rations. On the way up he was caught by a bit of shell and killed. I deeply regret his death as he was one of the best. Correspondence from Mr. Graham Kiddle, hon. secretary of the Red Cross Society, Melbourne, states that Private Tangey was killed by a shell instantly, and was buried in a shell hole in a wood near Pozieres.

Popular Townsman's Sudden Death
LATE MR. GEORGE TANGEY
Mr. George Tangey who died suddenly at the Port Augusta Hospital on Sunday night was one of the most popular residents in the town. For about 15 years he conducted a billiard saloon in Jervois Street near Commercial road. Deceased came from Victoria about 20 years ago and was employed as a carpenter in the Commonwealth Railways. Some years later he took over a business from Mr. Daniels. The late Mr. Tangey took no active part in public affairs, but he was a generous donor to all deserving causes. ACCIDENT AT BLOCK 14.
AT about 5 o'clock this morning a miner named James Tangey, working underground at Block 14, was buried by a fall of earth. He was rescued from his position at the expiration of a few seconds by his mates. On being taken to the surface he was attended by Dr. Thompson, who thoroughly examined him and found that he was not seriously hurt. So slight, in fact, were the man's injuries that he was able to walk to his home.

Lace Flower Pattern For Local Bride
WHITE lace flower-patterned formed the pretty gown which Miss Ethel Harris wore for her marriage on Saturday to Mr. Alfred Tangey.
The ceremony was performed in the St. Peter's' Church,, Lane-street, at 4 p.m.
The bride, who is the eldest daughter of Mrs. Dodimead, of Blende-street, was given away by Mr. A. Teague. The skirt of her bridal gown was made in six pieces, and orange blossom finished the V neck of the frock. The short sleeves were puffed and a silver girdle encircled her waist. Three strands of orange blossom secured her long filmy veil of cut tulle, and she carried a bouquet of roses, daffodils and white carnations.
Attending her were two brides maids, Misses Rita Tangey and Dorothy Dodimead, and a flowergirl, Mary Gatt. Mushroom pink georgette fashioned their dainty frocks, and silver sprays were fastened to the V-shaped necklines. The skirts were fully flared and silver sprays were set on their heads. They carried bouquets of pink roses, carnations and chrysanthemums. The little flower girl's frock was of scalloped georgette in dove blue. Pink flowers wreathed her halo hat and her Victorian posy was of pink roses and white lilies.
The bridegroom, who is the third son of Mr. and Mrs. James Tangey, of Beryl-street, was supported by Mr. S. McKennan (bestman) and Mr. Alec Murphy (groomsman).
A reception was held at the home of the bride's parents, and the bride's mother received the guests wearing a navy georgette frock with pleated bodice. A spray of flowers lent color to her navy straw hat. The bridegrooms mother chose gaily printed matelassé for her frock with amatching hat.

W. Jenes, of 173 Mica Street, which was travelling north in Crystal Street.

Jockey's Car In Crash
DEATH OF BOY, 14 The City Coroner (Mr. Tingate, P M.) yesterday recorded a finding of death by misadventure at the inquest on John Richard Tangey, 14, of Goulburn Street, Yarraville, press hand. In a statement produced in court, Victor Cadman Hartney, 20, jockey, of Werribee, said that at about 9 p.m. on February 11 he was driving west along the Geelong Road at about 40 m.p.h. on the correct side of the road. Descending the railway bridge at West Footscray the lights of an approaching vehicle dazzled him. As soon as the car passed a bicycle loomed in front. He had no opportunity to do anything. No sooner had he seen the bicycle that he hit it. Geofrey Thomas Boal, a first-constable attached to the Wireless Patrol, said that with Hartney he measured certain portions of the road way. From the point of impact, Tangey was thrown 33 feet. He followed a light tyre or brake mark back 75 ft. from the point of impact. The car could have stopped sooner if the brakes were harder applied, but they had apparently been only lightly applied. Hartney, in evidence, said he had slowed coming down the hill and lightly applied his brakes as the other vehicle approached: It had just passed when he hit the cycle with his nearside front headlight and mud guard.

General:
The informant on the birth of this child was James Crocker, "Friend" and in view of the fact that the child's second name is Crocker, I would assume that James Crocker was his father. James Crocker "Friend" was also the informant on the death certificate and was also the funeral director who buried the child.
