General:
Sophia Gomez was born in Spain, the only daughter of Signor James Gomez, sculptor, who was brother of the Late General Gomez of Spain. Sophia's father was said to have been assassinated at the time of the Spanish Revolution and Sophia's uncle Nemecio Gomez took her away to Gibraltar for safety. At the age of 17, Sophia Married an Army bandsman named James Kellum (Kellam) on 13th June 1836. James died in 1840, by which time, Sophia had 2 children. She may have married another army Officer called William Duck and possibly had several more children. William Duck died in St Kitts in 1842 and it seems that Sophia and the Regiment then returned to England, where in 1844, Sophia Duck married William Glanville, also and officer in the same Army Regiment. Sophia and William Glanville had 3 children, the first born in Ireland in 1847, the second born in England in 1849 and the 3rd born on board the prison Ship, the Pyrenees in 1851.
I have obtained a copy of the marriage certificate of Sophia to William Glanville. Sophia's surname is listed as Duck and she is said to be a widow with no indication of previous marriages. William is said to be a Corporal in the 47th Regiment and witnesses to the wedding were Charles William Porter and William Willoughy.
At this stage I have not found if Sophia had children with William Duck, however, if she did, there does not appear to be any current evidence that they came to Australia with Sophia and William Glanville.
Between 2 May 1831 and 10 February 1839 all three men (husband's of Sophia) were in the same regiment, the 47th Regiment and presumably knew each other and thus all presumably first met Sophia at pretty much the same time.
In 1852 or 1853 Sophia gave birth to another son, but apparently she died in childbirth, as did the child, however, I have been unable to find deaths to corroborate this. Newspaper stories indicate that this story is correct.

In 1871 her mother Francis was staying with her. After Caroline's death in 1900, her son John is listed as a beer house keeper at the Royal Arms in Bridge Street Peterborough.

A septuagenarian Inn-keeper's midnight fall
Mrs Caroline Sarah Dimbleby, landlady of the Royal Arms, Broad Street, possibly one of the oldest license holders in the City of Peterborough, and conducting one of the oldest inns - a flourishing business in the old days of the Nene River Traffic, when Simpsons's Packet and other boats with scores of barges regularly ran from Peterborough to Wisbech - died on Sunday from the effects of an accident. The old lady was a septuagenarian - 74 in fact, and had been somewhat feeble for some time; but although she had a son in Birmingham, preferred to preserve her independency and continue in the business she had so long been connected with. On Friday night she was seen by the maid to have retired to rest for the night, but a couple of hours later, a loud crash awakened the household. It was surmised that the mistress had fallen down stairs, and the fact of her being found huddled up at the bottom rather supported this view. It seems, however, that the old lady whilst, as she said, "looking for matches" must have gained the bottom of the stairs and in trying to push open the door the latch caught and in the rebound she fell, and in the fall, broke a rib, which penetrated her left lung. She remained in a critical condition until Sunday when she died; her son happily being at the bedside whilst his mother was yet living. It is a melancholy coincidence that 40 years ago the deceased's husband met his death by drowning.
