General:
conviction at Middlesex, England on 7 July 1784 and arrived in Australia on 26 Jan 1788. Arrived on the ship the Scarborough.
In 1792 and 1803 Nathaniel was granted a lease of land on Norfolk Island. In 1804 he was granted a lease on land in Sydney which was later cancelled in 1806 when another piece of land was leased.
In 1811 he was paid 46 pounds 6 shillings and 11 pence for erecting a toll house and 26 pounds 4 and 4 pence for extra work done to the watch house and toll house in Sydney.
In 1812 he was paid 164 pounds for carpenters work done at the Sydney Gaol.
On 22 April 1815 Nathanial was paid 128 pounds and 10 shillings from the police fund for fitting up two rooms in the general hospital as temporary courts of justice. he was a former carpenter at Norfolk Island, superintendent of carpenters and lumbar yard.

With her husband she came into Tocumwal to do some shopping, and as she did not return a search was made. Tracks were discovered over a steep part of the Murray River bank. It is feared that she has been drowned.

OBITUARY
TRAGIC DEATH OF MRS.E. J. SHUTTLEWORTH
THE funeral took places on Sunday in Tocumwal, of Mrs. Emma Jane Shuttleworth, mother of
three well-known Leeton residents, whose death occurred last week in tragic circumstances.
It appears that Mrs. Shuttleworth who was 62 years of age, wandered away from home suffering from loss of memory, and her body was found on Saturday in the Murray River. Two daughters, Elsie (Mrs. Beattie), Emily (Mrs. Hunter Boyd) and one son, Mr. Frank Shuttleworth, reside in Leeton. The deceased lady is also survived by her husband and two other daughters and two sons,
May (Mrs. Balcombe) Finley, Betty (Mrs. Chambers) Melbourne, George (Berrigan), and Keith (Tocumwal). The cortege, which followed the remains to the Presbyterian portion of the Tocumwal cemetery, was a large one, and the Rev. A. I. McNaughton, late of Leeton, officiated at the graveside. The pall-bearers were Messrs George Shuttleworth (son), Boyd (son-in-law), Beattie (son-in-law), Frank (son), Balcombe (son-in-law), George (nephew)
