Mr R.A.Jones
Mr Robert Arthur Jones, an old resident of Mulcare Rd., [Street] Nar Nar Goon, passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. J Williams, 20 Potter Street, Dandenong, on May 8th at the age of 74. He was ill only for a short time. Mrs Jones pre-deceased him in 1946, but a family of five sons and three daughters mourns the loss of a devoted father. Another son, Johnnie, lost his life with the 2nd A.I.F. The family's grief is shared by a very wide circle of friends in the Nar Nar Goon district. Many life long friends of deceased attended the funeral at the Spring Vale Necropolis on Friday when Rev. C.C. Macmichael conducted both services. The pall-bearers were Messrs. J. Williams, R. Taylor, J. Jones, E. [Eric] and P. [Paul] Blackwell and W. Taylor. W J Garnar and Son directed the funeral.

General:
According to the inquest papers, Susannah had been born prematurely at 6 months and was always delicate. She slept in the bed with her parents and was always kept well wrapped up because she was delicate. Her mother always put her to sleep between herself and the wall. The baby woke and was fed at around midnight, her mother moving her into the middle of the bed to feed. Her mother must have fallen asleep without moving the baby back to the other side of the bed and mother woke at around 5.30am and realised there was something wrong. She woke her husband to light the candle and found the baby was dead. Father went to get the Dr, who had already attended the baby twice due to her delicate nature. The Dr found a fold of the shawl the baby was wrapped in was partly over the baby's face and he believes that the baby, being delicate suffocated from that.
