Brylie had been on dialysis for some time and was the recipient of a kidney transplant early in 2014. The kidney transplant was one of 5 carried out on the same day, with the donated kidneys being transported to the various patients around Melbourne. Brylie's mother donated a kidney to another recipient so that Brylie could receive a kidney from another person. Sadly, Brylie was very weak from her illness and despite the kidney functioning well, Brylie's weight had dropped to under 40 kgs and complications set in.

On her marriage certificate, Ellen states her father's name as Henry Vinson occupation as Revenue Officer and her mother's name is said to be Mary Ann Teldon.

In my possession I have a newspaper clipping which is incomplete and undated - this article probably came from a local Higham Ferrers/Kettering English newspaper that Gilbert Blackwell had delivered to Australia regularly. This paper article would have been from around 1971 as Owen was 75 years of age at the time. Owen died when he was 76.

The story relates to the Higham Ferrers British Legion Club and has a photo of Owen Walker sitting with a pipe and a beer at the newly renovated Club. Owen at the time was 75 years of age and had become a member of the club in 1919 when it was known as the Soldiers' and Sailors' Club. Owen thinks the club is one of the best in the area. It gets better and better all the time he says. Owen Walker was living at 5 North End Higham Ferrers and had joined shortly after the club had formed. Owen was described as an ex-foreman clicker who worked at John Whites in the export department when he retired ten years ago and had been a regular member of the Club ever since.

At the time of the newspaper article, the President of the branch was Mr Dick Blackwell.
