GUTHRIDGE- STIRLING.- The marriage of Miss May Stirling, youngest daughter of the late Mr. George Stirling, of Richmond, to Mr. Arthur Guthridge, eldest son of Mr. Richard Guthridge, Grace Park, Hawthorn, was celebrated at the residence of the bride's mother, "Clifton," Church-street, Richmond, on Tuesday, October 23, the Rev. J. B. Smith, of Camberwell, officiating. The drawing-room was prettily decorated with grasses and quantities of white flowers. The bride, who was given away by her brother, Mr. George Stirling, wore a graceful gown of white Indian silk, with accordion-ploated corsage, the trimming being fine lace. A long tulle veil was worn over a small wreath, and she carried a beautiful shower bouquet. She was attended by three bridesmaids- the Misses Beatrice and Laura Guthridge (sisters of the bridegroom), and Miss Lorna Smith - who were gowned prettily in white Indian silk, with yokes of heliotrope and silver brocade, completed by shower posies with trails of lilies of the. valley. The other attendants were little children - Miss Daisy Treloar (niece of the bridegroom), Miss Lily Stirling (niece of the bride) and two little nephews, Master Jack Copeland (South Australia) and Master Robert Stirling. The little girls wore loose frocks of ivory silk and carried posies of white blossoms with heliotrope streamers. The little boys wore cream serge suits with sashes of heliotrope silk. Mr. Hotchin acted as best man. After the ceremony a reception was held and light refresh ments served in the dining-room, which was also very prettily decorated. Later in the afternoon the bride and bridegroom departed for their honeymoon, . GUTHRIDGE-MATHESON.
The marriage of Mr. Charles F. Guthridge, second son of Mr. Richard Guthridge, Coolattie, Canterbury, and Miss Lizzie Allan, eldest daughter of Mr. Matheson, Ardross, Moonee Ponds, took place at the residence of the bride's mother, by the Rev. D. Macrae Stewart, on February 2, at 7.30. The drawing room was decorated with an arch of ever greens, and a large wedding-bell of white flowers suspended above the bride and bride groom. The bride, who was given away by her brother, Mr. G. A. Matheson, wore white silk, trimmed with lace and sprays of orange blossom, caught at the neck with a diamond brooch, gift of the bridegroom; embroidered tulle veil and wreath, and shower bouquet of white flowers. The bridesmaids were the Misses A. and N. Matheson (sisters) and Miss F. Guthridge (sister of bridegroom), Miss Daisy Treloar and Master G. Matheson, train-bearers. The latter were in white silk. The bridesmaids wore cream floral muslin, with lace and ribbon sashes, and carried shower bouquets of pink roses. The bridegroom's gifts to them were gold rings with monogram of bride and bridegroom. Mr. Percy Guthridge (brother of bridegroom) acted as best man. Mrs. Matheson (mother of bride) was in black brocade. Mrs, Guthridge (mother of bridegroom), black silk. As the bridal party left the room the " Wedding March "was played by Miss Rennison. After the ceremony a large number of friends sat down to dejeuner. Immediately after, Mr. and Mrs. Guthridge left for a short honeymoon trip, prior to sailing for West Australia towards the end of the month. The bride's travelling dress was of dark bine serge, tailor-made coat and skirt, white silk chiffon vest: grey fancy straw hat trimmed with ribbon velvet and orchids.
