A WAREHOUSE FATALITY.
CORONER'S INQUIRY.
The Coroner (Mr. T. F. Davies, P.M.) and a jury yesterday resumed the inquiry into the recent death of James Oliver McCutcheon at Messrs. Falk and Co.'s warehouse.
With the Coroner's permission Mr. Hardwick watched the proceedings on behalf of Messrs. Falk and Co., the deceased's employers. Sergeant Pilkington examined the witnesses.
- Michael Hayman, employed at Messrs. P. Falk and Co.'s, gave evidence that at about 3.40 p.m. on March 30 he was on the first floor near the hatchway at the rear of the warehouse, with a quantity of goods on a wheeler. He called out to the attendant below to send up the hook of the electric hoist. As witness pulled the wheeler forward
to the opening, the corner struck a stack of caddies of tobacco standing a few feet from the edge. Three caddies were dislodged, and two bounded over the edge of the pit. The gross weight of each caddy would be about 13 lb. Witness looked over the edge, and saw one strike the deceased McCutcheon on the head and knock him down.
To Mr Hardwick: Deceased, when struck, was standing in the doorway adjacent to the hatchway on the ground floor.
Dr. J. S. Landon, acting .RM.O. at the Perth Public Hospital, produced the report of Dr. Sweet (at present absent from the city) of a postmortem examination on the body of deceased. The report stated that death was due to fractures of the skull and cerebral hemorrhage. Deceased died, at the hospital at 4.55 p.m. on the date of the
accident.
Evidence of a corroborative nature was given by employees of Messrs. Falk and Co. Robert C. Smith, in reply to the jury, said that about twelve months ago a wheeler loaded with crockery, had fallen down the pit, but on that occasion no one was injured. The spot where deceased was struck down was frequently occupied by persons other than the firm's employees.
To Mr. Hardwick: If protective doors were installed in the hatchway, they would have to be opened or removed to allow of the manipulation of the hoist.
The jury after a short retirement, returned a verdict that deceased came to his death through fracture of the skull, caused by a caddy falling on his head, as the result of an accident. A rider was added: "'That, in our opinion, the well hole or hatchway should be cased in."

DEATH OF MR. R. G. McCUTCHEON
DEATH OF MR. R. G. MCCUTCHEON
Mr Robert George McCutcheon, it will be learned with deep regret by a wide circle of friends, died suddenly on Sunday. Mr McCutcheon, who was born at Omagh, Country Tyrone, Ireland, in 1841, came to Australia in 1861. He had already learned his trade as a compositor and printer, and on arrival in Melbourne followed that occupation. He was in Port Fairy for some years, and then, returning to Melbourne, joined the firm of Mason, Firth and McCutcheon, of which his brother was a partner, and of which he himself subsequently became the head. In 1902 Mr. McCutcheon entered into politics, at the time of the Kyabram movement, and displaced Mr W H Williams for the St. Kilda seat in the Legislative Assembly. He continued to represent St Kilda until last year when owing to ill health he retired and did not seek re-election. He was for a while an honorary Minister in the last Peacock Cabinet. He was held in high esteem by his fellow members and was noted for his fairness in debate. He took his public duties seriously and brought a ripe experience and common sense to their discharge. Mr McCutcheon was a director of the Equity, Trustees Company. He was seriously ill last year but made a wonderful recovery, and seemed in good health but was seized with sudden illness on Friday evening and died yesterday. Mr McCutcheon leaves a widow, five sons, two of whom are on active service, and three married daughters. The funeral will be on Tuesday.

McCUTCHEON-BULEY.
It is not every bride who is fortunate enough to have such a happy wedding as had Mary Frances, second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. A. Buley, Rhyswick, Wattletree road. East Malvern, who was married at the Peace Memorial Church on Saturday afternoon. December 8, to Osborne, second son of Mr. ahd Mrs.- W. B. McCutcheon. Sealholme, Burke road. East Malvern. After the wedding the relatives and close friends of both families were entertained by the bride's parents at Little Milton, Albany road, Toorak, the home of the bride's elder sister (Mrs. Leslie Moran), who lent it for the occasion. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a lovely wedding gown of pearl-white duchesse satin, the bodice of which, slightly fitted to her figure, had long, tight sleeves.

The skirt was a little shorter in front than at the sides, and the hem line gradually lengthened to the back, where a train was formed. The tulle veil was bound to the head, in cap fashion, by ja band of silver tissue ribbon, and a narrow line of orange blossoms and clusters of the blossom were worn over either ear. The beauty of the toilette was enhanced by a sheaf of long stemmed Madonna lilies, which was carried instead of the ordinary bouquet. The brides maids. Misses Helen Fleming (N.S.W.), Elizabeth Moran, and Frances McCutcheon. were dressed alike in frocks of eau de nil ninon, the bodices of which fitted closely at the normal waistline. The skirts were made in two full flounces of irregular length, which fell from a deep hip yoke. Lone scarves of the material fell from one shoulder, and the broad-brimmed hats of citron yellow felt were caught in front of the crowns by green buckles. Their bouquets were of water-lilies.

Mr. John McCutcheon (brother of the bridegroom) was best man, and Dr. Henry Gault and Mr. Austin Smith were the groomsmen. Mrs. Buley wore a toilette ol' dark blue crepe de chine and a navy blue balibuntl straw hat with self coloured cord stitching on the crown. Mrs. McCutcheon wore a gown of black crepe de chine with a vest and strapped lines of mastic-tinted georgette on the bodice, and her black Bankok straw bat had a mastic velvet rose appliqued with gold stitching to the crown. Mrs. Leslie Moran's frock was of raspberry-red georgette, and her broad-briinmed straw bat was of the same rich shade. Among those present were: -

Mr. and Mrs. 0. B. McCutcheon, Mr. and Mrs.E. A. Bates, Mr. and Mrs. G. B. Vasey, Mr. and Mrs. E Lee Neil, Mr. and Mrs. H J. McCutcheon, Mr. Brownell (Hobart) and Miss Dorothy Brownell, Dr. and Mrs. J. Williams, Mr. and Mrs. L. V.
Stephens, Mr. and Mrs. C. P. Smart, Dr. and Mrs. Burnet, Dr. and Mrs. Gault, Mrs. E. R. Moran, the Rev. H. S, and Mrs. Heath, the Rev. and Mrs. T. C. Rentoul, Dr. and Mrs. Charles Hayes, Misses F. and E. Osborne, Miss Fraser, and Misses Louie and Wyn Moran.

McCutcheon - Buley
A PARTICULARLY interesting wedding was celebrated by the Rev. H. S, Heath at the Peace Memorial Church, East Malvern, on Saturday December 8, when- the bridegroom was Osborn, second son of Mr and Mrs W. B. McCutheon, of "Leaholme ' Burke road. East Malvern, and the bride was Mary Francis, second daughter of Mr and Mrs A. A. Buley, of "Rythsswick," Wattletree road, East Malvern.

Made almost plain, with uneven side draperies, the bride's deep ivory satin gown had long sleeves, Billowy tulle of the same deep tone formed the veil train, caught to her head within silver band and orange blossom buds. A sheath of St. Joseph's lilies was carried.
Misses Helen Fleming, Frances McCutcheon and Elizabeth Moran attended as bridesmaids. Their sleeveless, scarf draped frocks of delicate green ninon, had handkerchief skirt draperies falling from plain hip yokes. Their corn colored felt hats were relieved with green' buckles, and they carried sheafs of yellow water lilies. Mr John McCutcheon was best man,- with Mr Austin Smith and Dr Henry Gault as groomsmen.
The reception was held at "Little Milton,' Torak, the home of the bride's sister, Mrs Leslie Moran.

OUTER SUBURBS AND DEVELOPMENT

OUTER SUBURBS AND DEVELOPMENT
Need For Careful Planning
The need for a carefully planned development of outer suburbs was stressed by the chairman of the Building Industry Congress (Mr W. Osborn McCutcheon) today.
MR McCUTCHEON said the Building Industry Congress was anxious to promote the development of individual home ownership. It was quite clear that the average home was beyond the financial reach of the person with very limited means, and so the move made by the Congress Board- of Publicity and the Timber Merchants Association for the provision of low cost individual homes in outer suburbs was likely to be particularly valuable.

The special emphasis by the Timber Merchants' Association on timber construction was interesting because timber as a building medium had largely been discredited in the southern parts of Australia.

It had usually been employed where the sole consideration was cheapness, with the result that most timber houses here
were neither as well built nor as attractively designed as they should be.
