Malcolm was in the RAF where he did his National Service. He then joined the Northamptonshire Council Police and served for 30 years before he retired as a sargeant. His badge number was 222. In 2008 he was posthumously awarded a certificate of appreciation by the Northamptonshire Policy Authority as an Unsung Hero for his efforts in fostering genuine community spirit in the parish of Broughton.
There is a road in Broughton named by the Kettering Borough Council after Malcolm, who was Chairman of the Broughton Parish council for 18 years.

DARLOW Suddenly, at home, on January 23rd, 2008, Malcolm George (Malc), aged 72 years. Beloved husband of the late Marilyn, now reunited. Loving brother of Dorothy, Chuff and Carol, a dear brother-in-law and much loved uncle of his many nieces and nephews and their families. A celebration of his life will be held at St Andrews Church, Broughton, on Thursday, January 31st, at 11.30am, followed by interment in the cemetery.
